In the Welsh Parliament this week, James Evans MS continued his questioning of the Welsh Government regarding the £4.25 million purchase of Gilestone Farm.
Evans said, “it has come to light that the agreement that your Government is entering into is not with the Green Man Trust Ltd; it's a separate company called Cwningar Ltd, assigned to one person”.
Cwningar translates to ‘rabbit warren’ in English.
Evans continued by asking for an explanation on how this agreement would be “safeguarding the future of the Green Man Festival” and added that “the Welsh Government has really gone down a rabbit hole over this purchase.”
Economy Minister Vaughan Gething said that “due diligence on the proposal received from representatives of Green Man is in the final stages of assessment. I expect to receive advice from officials with regard to the next steps before the end of March.”
James said:
“The Minister proudly says due diligence is now in the final stages, but due diligence should have been done well before they spent millions of taxpayer’s cash.
“Vaughan Gething also needs to answer why his Government is entering into an agreement with a private individual, instead of the Green Man Trust as we were originally told.
“There is a lot that doesn’t add up about this whole process, and there has been a complete lack of transparency from Welsh Government.”
