In the Senedd today, Brecon and Radnorshire’s James Evans asked a question on the serious transport problems that schoolchildren have faced in the Brecon area this week.
During the Business Statement, Evans condemned the chaos that children faced going to and from school and outlined the safety issues those children faced as a result, such as having to wait by the side of the road in the dark and rain. As a result, he asked for action from Welsh Government to put pressure on Powys Council to urgently find a solution.
James said:
“I asked the Welsh Government to intervene in this situation because the whole thing is a mess.
“Children have been left waiting at bus stops in the rain, put on buses going the wrong way and getting home far later than they should be. It is unacceptable, full stop.
“The Liberal Democrat-run Powys Council have massively botched the new timetable - they need to get a grip on the situation in the best interests of children and parents.”
