The service is available for people of all ages, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in all areas of Wales to ensure those in need of support can access it quickly when they need it most. If you need to talk to someone about your mental health, or you’re concerned about a family member, call NHS 111 Wales and select option 2 to be placed in direct contact with a mental health professional . The number is free to call from a landline or mobile, even if you have no credit left. When necessary, patients can be referred to dedicated mental health services or signposted for supplementary support, in many instances avoiding the need to visit busy emergency departments or calling the Police.

It was great to sponsor the event in the Senedd. Highlighting the early success of the NHS 111 press 2 helpline, for many people suffering from mental health issues they have felt no other option other than to go to A&E or suffer in silence at home. This service is in its early days but already the data has shown that this service is helping people when they need help the most. I will continue to support the implementation of this service and work with the Welsh Government to ensure the service continues long into the future.
