On the 7th of September James met with Robin Manning, Director of the British Agricultural Bureau (BAB) and Patrick Pagani, Senior Policy Advisor of Cop Cogeca at the BAB office Brussels.
Discussing issues farmers face across Europe and the importance of building on the UK’s new relationship with the EU, James greatly appreciates the opportunity to gain further insight into the ongoing work to protect the interests of British farmers in the EU. Underpinning much of the discussion was the success of Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak in delivering on the Windsor Framework and the foundation it has given for future agreements to be brokered. It also provided James with the opportunity to brief BAB on many of the regulatory developments taking place in the Senedd.
Commenting on the meeting, James said.
"It was great to meet with David and Patrick and to pick up on some of the legislation being developed in the EU. BAB are doing a fantastic job at monitoring events in the European Parliament and the EU commission which in turn has helped to better advise policy makers in devolved administrations. Being briefed on some of these matters has helped me to build a broader picture of what's going on and how this could potentially impact farmers in Wales."
James goes on to say.
As always, it's a pleasure to catch up with BAB and the work they're doing. I hope to reconvene with them again soon, when I'm sure there will be plenty more to discuss.
