Commenting on news that Powys Teaching Health Board has been escalated to level 4 for finance, strategy and planning due to serious concerns around their financial deficit, James Evans MS said:
“It is disturbing to hear that there are serious concerns around the finance, strategy and planning at Powys Teaching Health Board and that Welsh Government has escalated them to level 4. Welsh Labour’s record on the NHS in Wales is abysmal and this is symptomatic of a failure of leadership from the top.”
“Many locals raised concerns with their recent decisions to reduce MIU opening hours and questioned whether this would in fact save any money. Budgets are stretched in all public services, but the Health Board needs to start listening to its frontline staff and the residents it serves if it is to find efficiencies and better ways of working to address their growing financial deficit.”
